Adaptable is a fitting adjective to describe the person I am today. Adaptability was an attribute I was forced to acquire very early in my childhood. My twenty eight years of life have been replete with changes. Learning how to respond well to those changes and having a positive attitude about them was both crucial and influential in the process of shaping my character and helping me to make important choices through the course of my life.
I consider myself a very content person with the character I have built, the morals I have been taught and acquired throughout the years and the results I have accomplished so far. Adaptability has taught me to be excited about changes, enthusiastic about new opportunities, fearless to face what is still unknown and prepared to tackle adversities that surround our lives.
Participating in sports has also had a huge impact in my life and the way I see the world. I have played several sports throughout childhood, but I discovered my main passion - soccer - when I was about ten years old. Being part of a team has taught me that diversity is a significant concept and that learning how to accept and respect the differences between people is an essential aspect of life.
Playing a collective sport develops your sense of sharing and forces you to set aside your individualistic mentality, showing you the importance of working for a greater cause. Working well with other people can be a very challenging task, but all the years of experience playing soccer has required me to develop some crucial abilities, such as, communication skills, solve conflicts, share responsibilities, develop empathy for people by being able to put yourself in other people’s shoes and, most importantly, learn how to work together in order to achieve a common goal.
Apart from my family, some of the coaches I have played for were most influential in my life. They did not only teach me soccer, but most importantly, helped me to become a better individual. Life-lessons were learned, tears were shed and help and encouragement were freely and constantly delivered. Coaches have inspired me to keep chasing excellence.
Both of my parents have a heart of gold, and they have always made sure to deliver the message of how important it is to give, to share and to help others at any possible chance. It was half way through college that I realized that one of the best ways to give back and influence people, was by becoming a coach. Coaches have the power to be an inspiration, motivate people to be the “best version of themselves”, promote good values along with assisting people with character building and hopefully make a difference in their lives. The latter, combined with my great passion for the game of soccer, were the impetus behind my aspiration to pursue the coaching profession.
My goal is to bring light to the people I am around and inspire them to tireless chase greatness while feeling content with who they are at the present moment.
